Clean Home in 7 Days

RULES TO LIVE BY

See the 8 rules to live by below.

Don’t Get Sidetracked!

When you are cleaning a room, if you go into another room, don’t start doing other chores in the other room! Make a mental note of the other room tasks and do them after you have completed the room you are cleaning.

Know When to Stop

If you want to dedicate one hour to a “Next Level” project, (weeding the garden or reorganizing a drawer for example), stick to your timeline and move on to the other tasks scheduled for that day. Add the project to the next level tasks on a different day and finish it later.

Multi-tasking is easy when you are on the Brambly Thicket rotational method. You know what to do next when the microwave is steam cleaning, or the laundry is washing/drying. Always refer to your customized schedule.

Multi-task

Floor Level

Complete daily tasks on the same floor level before you move on. Extra trips up and down the stairs are time consuming. Accumulate items that need to go up or down the stairs at the steps, and then take them up/down when you go.

Perfection

Remember, nothing is ever perfect, all the time because your schedule is a continuous, evolving thing. Don’t give up! Just keep using the Brambly Thicket method and you will get caught up.

Pick Up

Pick up rooms/put away clothes, toys, etc., every day as you complete daily tasks. Pick up leaves, lint, dirt, etc. on floors as you see them rather than waiting until vacuum day.

Prioritize

Put daily tasks in order of priority for you. Check out my seven-day cleaning schedule example for how to set up a seven-day week.

Next Level

What about cleaning the upholstery, your car, deep cleaning, or weeding the garden? These things are all considered Next Level tasks. Fit these projects into your schedule after you have completed the Brambly Thicket daily tasks. They are not a chore when your house is already clean and picked up.
